Announcing Celia Yan Zhou as the studibudi “Student of the Month”!

Congratulations to Celia Yan Zhou, a MBA student at the School of Management, New York Institute of Technology’s Vancouver campus.

Celia graduated from Carlton University and I worked for a Canadian college as an Executive Assistant for two years. During her MBA studies, she gained some experience in the recruiting and program consulting area. All these valuable experiences and her MBA studies have made her more outgoing and as a result she really enjoys social events, business activities and networking with her classmates.

While studying at Carlton University, Celia volunteered with the International Student Association to help new International students to adapt to their new life in Canada.  She also helped disabled school mates with note taking in classes. While in China she helped her local community to organize a World Health Organization conference. In March 2010, Celia will be a volunteer performer in the opening ceremonies of the 2010 Vancouver Paralympics Games.

Celia got an opportunity through studibudi to work on a marketing research and marketing plan project for Modern Rocket, a 10 year-old media Production Company in Vancouver. She took on this project because this was a very practical experience which relates directly to her education. She said “You can never get these sorts of hand-on practical experiences from the textbook!”.

She worked with three other team members to conduct the marketing research about past and potential customers and competitive environment for the whole industry.  The group conducted a detailed analysis and then developed a whole set of tactical and strategic plans. These included changing promotional materials, website enhancement, improving customer’s connections etc.

The result and outcome on this project got an excellent response from the business owner and the company is implementing the crucial changes included in our recommendations.

Celia says “With my updated educational qualifications and the practical experiences that I’ve develop thanks to studibudi, I would like to continue to develop my skills and qualifications in the financial and marketing areas.”
